March 22nd, 2008 by Matthew Gorelik

As a continuation of the previous post about The Benefits of Tagging Your Post, I’m going explain some hidden features of WordPress that you may or may not have known before. In this post, I’m going to cover “Alt + V” or the second WordPress Formatting interface, which is helpful for copy and pasting from MS Word or Notepad, or any other text editor. I’m also going to cover the usage of the <!–more–> tag.

The Benefits of Tagging Your Posts

March 22nd, 2008 by Matthew Gorelik

Recently, we at TalkPrice.net have been wondering about the effect tagging our posts may have on our blog. I have decided to take this research into my hands, and I hope to pass on this knowledge to everybody who is interested in this same topic.

There’s not much prerequisite knowledge needed to understand what I’m talking about when I say “tagging” a post, but just in case: if you use WordPress or any other service, the VAST majority will allow you to tag your post. In WordPress, the place where you enter your tags is right under the post itself.

1) WHY SHOULD I TAG?
The simplest answer to give is probably just “why not?”

Cleaner Frontpage

March 21st, 2008 by Matthew Gorelik

I just thought I’d like to let my readers know that we’ve decided that the front page should be more crisp and user-friendly. We’ve decided to add “<!–more–>” code onto all of the long posts, to make your viewing experience much smoother, as well as reducing load times dramatically. Hopefully people are happy about this new, crisp look! For tomorrow, we have two posts ready that we’re really happy with, so make sure you check back. Thanks!

Moola Review

March 21st, 2008 by Jake Cohen

Moola LogoMoola is a revolutionary new site, that pays its users to play games, search, and complete offers. You do not have to spend any money to start, because they give you 1 cent for joining, and another cent every time your account runs out of money. Every time you win a game, you double your money. If you double your money 30 times in a row, you get $10,737,418. This is no scam folks, the money to pay you comes from video adverts that you have to watch every time you play.

Postponing Tasks at Hand

March 21st, 2008 by Jake Cohen

The postponing muscle is what mentally causes you to leave things for the very last moment. This used to happen to me a lot, but I’ve changed my habits recently.

Let’s look at the following scenerio:

Your at home, and you have to work on a large presentation for tomorrow. You know it will take a long time, but you haven’t exactly planned how long. You go to the kitchen, eat some food, move over to the living room, prop down on the couch, and watch television for a few hours. Then you remember about the presentation, so on your way back to your office, you grab a quick snack. When you finally sit down at the computer, you spend another hour reading emails and surfing the net. You look over at the clock and gasp as you realize what time it is.

Entrecard Review

March 19th, 2008 by Jake Cohen

Entrecard LogoThis service is truly extraordinary! I cannot even put in words the imagination that these guys have, I mean their slogan is “Business Card 2.0″. I don’t know whether it refers to the power of Web 2.0 or the business card reinvented, but either way I’m stunned. Entrecard is a must for anyone trying to boast both awareness and traffic. Let’s go further into detail.

What is Entrecard?

Entrecard is a service that allows you to advertise on other peoples websites, but instead of using cash, you use EC which is the currency over at Entrecard. Once you register, you are given code to install on your website. What this does is installs a little widget which displays others ads. In order to put an ad on my website, you would need a certain amount of EC. There are a two ways to get these EC points. Whenever someone drops a card on my widget I get a point, and whenever I drop a card on someone else’s widget I get point. Because of this, everyone wins!

How To Convert Viewers

March 16th, 2008 by Jake Cohen

There are many ways to get traffic these days. Social media sites, paid advertising, self promotion, etc. What many people don’t realize though, is that a large amount of this traffic is useless. This following will explain why:

1. Someone sees your link somewhere.

2. They click it.

3. They look at your site for a few seconds.

4. They leave and continue on with their lives.

Now there are many ways to monitor and build your conversation rate. A conversion rate is of course the percentage of people, who after visiting your site become loyal in any shape or form. Whether they subscribe, visit daily, or promote your site; conversion is what makes a site popular.

Keeping the Viewer

Keep in mind that the average internet user doesn’t have a lot of tolerance. If they find anything wrong with your site, the chances are that they’ll leave. Here are some things that really bug a viewer, and that you should get rid of from your site:

Happy Pi Day! Celebrate it Well!

March 14th, 2008 by Matthew Gorelik

As some of you may know, March 14th (3/14) is internationally recognized Pi Day. π is the sixteenth letter in the Greek alphabet, but the reason most of us know it is because of it’s incredible mathematical significance. I don’t really want to inform you of the history of π as a mathematical constant, but ANCIENT mathematicians discovered that there is always a relationship between the diameter of a circle and its circumference, and it always comes out to be around 3. Today, we know pi to more than 1 trillion decimal places, and calculations are still going on every day using supercomputers, as are attempts to discover a more complex formula.Anyways, tomorrow is 3/14, the first 3, most commonly recognized digits of π. Buy yourself a pie, bring it into school, tell your friends, celebrate pi day however you want! A simple google search will provide you with all the “pi day” resources you could ever want!

P.S…if you want to be super, super precise, celebrate it at 1:59:27, but that’s optional. Just acknowledge Pi Day!!
