Musicovery Review

For those of you who use StumbleUpon regularly, and have chosen music as an interest, you are probably well aware of this service. However for the rest of you, I have written this neat little review to introduce you to the service, as well as explain a little bit about it.
To put it plainly, Musicovery is really a service for musical exploration, for finding new songs that are extremely similar to your favorites. The service allows you to narrow your search by style, genre, mood, decade, tempo and more. It starts you off with a random song based on your preference and then stems out into other songs that are similar to the previous one in title, content, inspiration, and many other factors.
The interface can be a bit slow depending on your internet speed. The developers decided to make it graphically intense with drop shadows and effects. It isn’t to bad though, and really makes it more of an experience. The songs are color coded by genre which is specifically displayed on the left-hand user panel.
It’s very simple to get started. In fact when you visit the website there isn’t even an intro page, it gets you started right away. The service doesn’t require you to sign-up, and the basic version completely free. However in the free version, the songs are somewhat yet noticeably low quality. There is a paid service with higher quality audio files, but is very confusing and shows some signs of hidden sign-up costs.
It would be much better for now just to stick with the free version, and subside your short term craving for Musicovery.
